The Spanish Section of New York at UNIS was established in 1997-98. A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education of Spain and United Nations International School (UNIS) was signed in 2014.
The Spanish Section of New York is made up of UNIS students who take Spanish Language and Literature as well as Humanities (Geography and History) at the school from JA (equivalent to Kindergarten) to T2 (equivalent to 10th grade).
Students who complete the M3, M4, T1, and T2 courses in the Spanish Section earn the Spanish title of Graduado en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (Compulsory Secondary Education Diploma). Additionally, UNIS offers students the possibility of taking Spanish as a first language (Literature, or Language and Literature) during T3 and T4 to obtain their International Baccalaureate Diploma.
