The education system in Spain is structured as follows:
Early Childhood Education/Educación infantil
Educational stage for students from 0 to 6 years old.
Primary education (grades 1-6)/Educación primaria
Compulsory education for children from 6 to 12 years of age.
Middle and High school (grades 7-10)/Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO)
Compulsory education, generally between the ages of 12 and 16.
Secondary Education (11th and 12th grade)/Bachillerato
Secondary education which is generally attended between the ages of 16 and 18.
Post-Secondary Education/Enseñanzas universitarias
Education, which is usually undertaken from the age of 18 onwards.
Vocational training/Formación Profesional
Voluntary education. More than 150 training cycles within 26 professional fields.
Voluntary education without age limitation.
Foreign Languages/Enseñanzas de idiomas
