• COURSE IN SALAMANCA: Mester Academy has organised a Spanish course aimed at British and Irish teachers interested in learning or improving their Spanish language skills.

Four different levels are being offered: Spanish for absolute beginners (A1); Spanish for beginners (A2); intermediate Spanish (B1); and advanced Spanish (B2). All students except absolute beginners will take a level test to ensure they are assigned to the correct level.

The course consists of 1 week of face-to-face classes in Salamanca (Spain) and an online course that will be accessible for a whole year.

• COURSE IN SEGOVIA: The University of Valladolid, Mester Academy and INTI online language courses have organised a Spanish course aimed at British and Irish teachers interested in learning or improving their Spanish language skills.

Two different levels are being offered: Spanish for beginners (A2); and intermediate Spanish (B1). All students except absolute beginners will take a placement test to ensure they are assigned to the correct level.

The course consists of 1 week of face-to-face classes in Segovia (Spain) and an online course that will be accessible for a whole year.

The face-to-face course will take place in Salamanca or Segovia (Spain). This part of the course lasts one week, and participants can choose from any of the following periods to attend:

• Option I: 16th-21st October 2022
• Option II: 23rd-28th October 2022
• Option III: 30th October - 4th November 2022

This week of intensive classes combines the language learning programme with many fun and interesting cultural activities (visits around the city, guided tours and afternoon trips).

Access to the online course will be available for a whole year from the beginning of the course. The online course consists of 33 hours of self-study modules which include video tutorials, interactive exercises, and audiovisual materials. In addition, course participants will have the support of a WhatsApp consultation service.

The blended-learning course gives participants the chance to work through the modules when it suits them best, and adapts to their pace of learning, allowing them to revise and go over the course content as many times as they wish.

This course is aimed at teachers working in schools in the UK or Ireland (non-native speakers of Spanish) wishing to upskill their level of Spanish. Primary school teachers will be given preference, but the application is also open to secondary school teachers.

You cannot apply for the grant if you have received a similar one in the same city (Salamanca or Segovia) over the last five years. However, it is possible to apply if participants are willing to pay for accommodation costs (180€), in addition to the administration costs (200€).

The organisation provides a partial grant to the participants covering most of the costs.

THE GRANT COVERS:

• Accommodation in a double room (half-board) in halls of residence. A single room can be requested by paying a supplement of 10€ per day. For those wanting to arrive or leave one or several days before or after the course, accommodation in a single room with half board costs 40€ per day.
• Meals:
  • Breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday morning are included, as well as dinner on Sunday.
• Transfers from/to Madrid airport to/from Salamanca, will be provided at the following times:
  • On Sunday: from MADRID to SALAMANCA at 18:00.
  • On Friday: from SALAMANCA to MADRID departing at 14:00.
  • Please do not book a flight arriving after 17:00 or leaving before 19:00 if you want to use the transfers provided.
• Transfers from/to Madrid airport to/from Segovia, will be provided at the following times:
  • On Sunday: from MADRID to SEGOVIA at 18:00.
  • On Friday: from SEGOVIA to MADRID departing at 13:00.
  • Please do not book a flight arriving after 16:30 or leaving before 17:00 if you want to use the transfers provided.
• Medical insurance with SANITAS.

In addition, it is mandatory to travel with the UK Global Health Insurance Card (UK GHIC) or the UK European Health Insurance Card (UK EHIC)

• Socio-cultural programme: Please note that the cost of the tapas route (12€ ), food tasting (12€) and farewell dinner (25€) is NOT included in the grant.

THE GRANT DOES NOT COVER:

• The plane ticket or allowances for travelling with your own vehicle.
• Management fees amounting to 200€ (*)
• Pocket money.
• The tapas route (12€), FOOD TASTING (12€) or the farewell dinner (25€).

(*) Selected participants will be told about the method of payment for the 200€ administration fee. This amount can be refunded if three students from the participating teacher´s school enrol in a Spanish course for at least one week at Mester Academy
