The Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training carries out educational activities in Canada through the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain located in Ottawa. It also has an office in the Alberta Department of Education as well as three Spanish Resource Centers in Edmonton, Montreal and Toronto.
The main objective of the Education Office is to support the teaching of Spanish in the Canadian educational system, as well as to promote the Spanish language and culture in Canada. In order to achieve this goal, various efforts are pursued, among which the following should be highlighted:
The North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP) in Spain
Cultural exchange program for young Canadians who have recently graduated or are in their last year of university, giving them the opportunity to be English or French language teaching assistant in Spain.
Spanish Language and Culture Assistants program in Canada
Cultural exchange program that allows young Spanish university graduates to work as Spanish language and culture assistants in primary and secondary schools or in Spanish resource centers.
The Visiting Teachers Program in Canada
A program with a long tradition in Canada through which Spanish teachers serve as Spanish teachers in elementary and secondary schools in Canada.
The International Spanish Academy (ISA) program
They are Canadian educational institutions at any level of non-university education, which follow some of the bilingual program models that use an integrated learning methodology of content and language in Spanish.
Centers whose purpose is to provide didactic or literary materials, organize and promote various cultural events and competitions throughout the school year, aimed at promoting and disseminating Spanish language and culture in Canada.
Summer Courses offered by Spanish universities
With a wide variety of topics, our courses bring the linguistic and cultural reality of Spain to life every summer during the month of July. They are taught in prestigious universities in two modalities: 3 weeks courses and 5 weeks programs.

Program allowing Spanish children and youth in Canada to maintain their language and culture of origin.

Instituto Cervantes Online Spanish Courses - University of Calgary
The Instituto Cervantes is a public institution created by Spain in 1991 to universally promote the teaching, study and use of Spanish and to contribute to the diffusion of Hispanic cultures abroad.
