Language Assistantships for Indians in Spain

The Language Assistant Program in Spain call for applications (school year 2026-2027) is expected to be published shortly.

The Ministry of Education does not charge application fees. If you receive any request for a payment to submit your application, you are not applying for the official Ministry of Education program.

The terms and deadlines of the Language Assistant Program in Spain are currently under review. The publication of the call for applications for the 2026-27 academic year will be delayed by a few weeks compared to previous years, and the application period will be shortened (exact dates are not yet available). There will be a reduction in the maximum number of years of participation in the programme. Specifically, for Indian citizens, the maximum participation in the programme will be limited to two years. Consequently, candidates who have already participated in the programme twice will not be eligible to apply again.

The program is expected to run from November 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027 (8 months).

However, we would like to inform you that the PRE-SELECTION of applicants for the 2026–2027 Language Assistant Programme is about to begin.

You can request a pre-selection interview completing this formNueva ventana

After verifying applicant’ eligibility based on the documentation submitted, the Education Office will begin scheduling interviews, during which their fluency in English can be assessed.

The interview is an essential requirement for participation, and applicants will need to provide a passport number and send the scanned passport page that includes their photo and details. The interview can take place by WASAP, Teams, Zoom, etc. or in person. It is compulsory for every applicant to be interviewed before they submit their application through the Profex 2 platform.

Applicants who pass the pre-selection interview are adviced to follow these steps before the official call for applications opens:

1. Create or update your profile on Profex 2Nueva ventana (Profex 2 instructionsPDF). Please note:

  • Your passport number must match your Profex 2 registration number. It must be the passport you will use to take part in the program, and it must be valid as indicated below.
  • Passport validity: your passport must be valid for at least one year from the expected date of entry into Spain. Given that the program begins on 1 November 2026, your passport must be valid until at least 1 November 2027 (longer validity if, for any reason, you join after 1 November). If your current passport is not valid for the period mentioned, you must renew it before creating your profile on Profex 2.
  • Applicants who already have a Profex 2 registration number which does not match the passport number they will use to apply for this program: they must request a change of their Profex 2 registration number before submitting their application, following these steps:
    • Upload the passport you will use to apply for the program, scanned in PDF format, to the “Attached Documents” section in Profex 2.
    • Write to the Ministry of Education at auxiliares.extra@educacion.gob.ese-mail informing them that you have uploaded a new passport and need to change your registration number in Profex 2.
    • Once reviewed, the Ministry's administrators will send you a confirmation email with instructions. (Please check your spam folder).
  • Applicants with dual nationality, Indian and from a European Union (EU) country other than Spain: Indian applicants who are also citizens of an EU country other than Spain must register on Profex 2 with their EU passport (with the same validity mentioned above) and select their EU country in the “Nationality” section. When they submit their application, in the “Relevant information” section, they should select the option “India – Education Office of Spain in India.” They will need to upload to Profex 2 the EU passport they are registering with and, also, their Indian passport, that proves their eligibility to participate in the “India – Education Office of Spain in India” option of the program. They must enter Spain with their EU passport and will not need a visa.
  • Applicants with dual Indian and Spanish nationality. Applicants who have Indian and Spanish nationality must register as Indians, with their Indian passport in Profex 2, as this program is for foreign citizens, not Spanish citizens. However, they must enter Spain with their Spanish passport and will not need a visa.

2. Upload to Profex 2 the academic degree or academic transcript that proves the studies completed or those being pursued in 2026 (you must be enrolled in at least your second year of college). It is essential to:

  • Include in the PDF file all the pages of the university degree, if you have completed your studies, or all the pages of the academic transcript, if you are currently enrolled at university.
  • Ensure that the documents are official, provided by the university registry offices. Unofficial academic transcripts are not valid.
  • The degree must have been awarded by a university based in an English-speaking country and the academic program must have been taught entirely in English.

  • Be addressed to the Spanish Ministry of Education, with a maximum length of one page.
  • Be written in English or Spanish.
  • Have the letterhead of the university, company, or contracting entity.
  • Include the contact details of the lecturer/professor or employer.

  • Be dated.
  • Be signed by you.

Important: applicants who participated in the program in the year 2024/2025 or earlier are eligible to participate again by filling out the questionnaire and going through the interview process. They must attach the favourable report of the school they were assigned to in Spain, but they will not have to submit English or Spanish certificates.

This process is NOT for applicants who are in Spain during the school year 2025-2026 and would like to renew their participation in the program.
