Mission and structure

Mission

The Education Office in Australia and New Zealand is the representative office of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) in Australia and New Zealand. Its principal objective is to bring closer the Spanish language and culture to the educational community, teachers, hispanists, students, consultants and in general to all those people interested in Spain and the Hispanic world. Manage in these countries the activities of the Spanish Ministry international programs.

In Australia the Spanish MEFP counts with one Education Office, to which the Spanish education advisors in Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra-Sydney, one Spanish Language and Culture Program (ALCE) and the Spanish Resource Centres Alejandro Malaspina in Canberra and at RMIT in Melbourne are all dependent.

The Spanish Education Office in Australia is the technical means of the Embassy of Spain in Australia, whose principal functions consist in promoting, managing and coordinating the educational actions designed to the Spanish educational cooperation in Australia, without prejudice to the responsibilities entrusted to other organs of the diplomatic mission.

Salto de línea The Spanish Education Office in New Zealand is the technical means of the Embassy of Spain in New Zealand, and its functions consist in promoting, managing and coordinating the educational actions of international cooperation with New Zealand, without prejudice to the responsibilities entrusted to other organs of the diplomatic mission.

In New Zealand the Education Office of the Spanish Ministry of Education counts with one education advisory office in Wellington.

The Education Office in Australia and New Zealand depends functionally on the Spanish Ministry of Education and organically with its respective Embassy.

The Education Office looks to support the work of the regular teaching professionals, with special attention to Spanish in the different levels of the educational system, through agreements of advisory, didactic and human resource, collaborating with Australian and New Zealand educational, institutional and cultural administrations.

Via its website the Education Offices professional team provides information, support, materials and manages programs of cooperation between Australia, New Zealand and Spain especially supporting all those interested in the Spanish language and the Spanish educational system.

STRUCTURE

The Education Office has one Counsellor, one Secretary General, a team of four advisors (two in Australia, one in New Zealand and one in the Philippines) y two persons in its administration (one at the Embassy's chancery and the other at the Spanish Resource Centre Alejandro Malaspina).Salto de línea The Spanish Language and Culture Program in Australia depends directly of the Education Office, with six teachers. The Program has its office in Sydney, and classrooms in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
