The conference is aimed at Spanish teachers of all levels of education, from primary to higher education, as well as university students.
Spanish language teaching is constantly evolving. Today, more than ever, we work in diverse contexts with students who bring rich and varied knowledge, languages, and life experiences into the classroom. At the same time, new technologies – like generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) – are gradually becoming part of our teaching practices.
The theme of this year’s conference – “New Horizons in Spanish Language Teaching: Innovation and Diversity” – invites us to share ideas, experiences, and questions that help us reflect on what we teach, how we teach, and who we teach for. We aim to create an open and collaborative space for educators across all sectors and settings: from primary schools to universities, including adult education, community-based learning, and heritage language programs.
We are interested in (un)learning and engaging in collective reflection on the uses and challenges of emerging tools such as GenAI, as well as traditional approaches, and also on diversity in all its forms: linguistic, cultural, pedagogical, methodological, and identity-related.
The conference welcomes proposals in a wide range of formats. Our goal is to create a space where we can share what we do, what inspires us, and what we dream for the future of Spanish language education in Australia.
