Objective of the programme: To train and qualify teachers of Spanish in the Philippines in new methodologies for the teaching of Spanish language and culture, thus strengthening the teaching of Spanish in the Philippine educational system, and favouring the updating of methodologies and the implementation of innovative teaching resources.
Organisation: The Ministry, through the National University of Distance Education (UNED) as a collaborating entity, finances and organises the 30-hour course: Methodology, resources and didactic tools for the teaching of Spanish language and culture at initial levels, which will train 60 Filipino teachers in the week of 15-19 September 2025. Since its creation, the UNED has been developing Spanish courses for foreigners and training courses for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, having achieved a recognised prestige in this field.
Teacher selection: The selection of participating teachers will be carried out in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Education. Candidates will apply through the PROFEX2 platform and will be selected based on their teaching profile, previous experience, interest in teaching Spanish and their potential to implement the knowledge acquired in their respective schools in the different regions of the country.
Expected results:
Impact of the programme: The course has a very practical focus, and the 60 teachers come from all over the country. The aim is to ensure that what has been learned reaches as many students as possible in an equitable manner.
