Language Assistantships for Filipinos in Spain 2026-2027

The Language and Culture Assistants Program for Filipinos in Spain has resumed. The application period will be open from June 2, 2026 (08:01 GMT+1) until June 30, 2026 (19:59 GMT+1). Official websiteNueva ventana

The Ministry of Education does not charge any fee for participation in this program. If you receive any payment request in order to submit your application, you are not applying through the official Ministry of Education program.

We are currently waiting to know how many Autonomous Communities will participate in the program and how many slots will finally be allocated to the Philippines. The selection process for Phase 1 will begin as soon as this information becomes available. Kindly refrain from sending inquiries and wait patiently for information either from your universities —if you are a Phase 1 candidate— or published on this website —if you are a Phase 2 candidate—.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be Filipino citizens proficient in written and spoken English, residing in the Philippines.
  • Be a last-year university student of a Bachelor’s degree, or already in possession of a Bachelor’s degree, a postgraduate student, or having completed a Master’s degree or Doctorate.
  • Be of sound mental and physical health and must have no limitations that would impair your ability to teach.
  • Have clear police record.
  • Be eligible for a long-term student visa (for more information about visas, please refer to the General Consulate of Spain in Manila).
  • As a mandatory participation requirement, applicants’ passports must remain valid at least until November 1, 2027. Applications submitted with passports expiring before that date will not be accepted. Candidates must therefore hold a valid passport meeting this requirement at the time of application.
  • Language requirement: knowledge of Spanish. For 2026-2027, we are requesting certified knowledge of Spanish equivalent to A1 level. Please be aware that part of your interview with the Education Advisor will be conducted in Spanish. Kindly read the following information carefully:

Spanish requirement:

a) A1 DELE/A1 SIELE GLOBAL certificate. Students graduating or already graduated in European Languages with a major or minor in Spanish are exempted from this requirement.

b) If you do not belong to any of our partner universities, you may apply through Instituto Cervantes. In this case, an A2 DELE certificate will be required.

Important: meeting the requirements above, being pre-selected by a partner university or Instituto Cervantes, holding the required Spanish certificate, and successfully completing the interview with the Education Advisor will only allow candidates to submit their application through PROFEX2. This does not, under any circumstances, guarantee or automatically grant a placement in the program. Final placements will depend, among other factors, on the final number of slots allocated to the Philippines, the participating Autonomous Communities, and the number of renewing candidates.

Filipino language assistants may participate in the program for a maximum of two consecutive academic years. This means they may renew their placement only once, either in the same Autonomous Community or in a different one.

Filipino candidates should also note that they belong to the Comunidad Autónoma quota (Regional Education Office cohort), and not to the Ministry of Education quota (Ministry of Education cohort).

Before applications may be submitted through PROFEX2, the application process for a Language and Culture Assistant position in Spain for the 2026-2027 academic year will consist of two phases or stages:

STAGE 1:Salto de línea For candidates from institutions partnered with the Ministry of Education of Spain

Candidates from universities partnered with the Spanish Ministry of Education (Ateneo de Manila, Cebu Normal University, De La Salle University, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Palompon Institute of Technology, University of the Philippines Diliman, University of Santo Tomas Manila, West Visayas State University, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan) must submit their application through their university (International/External Relations Office (Ateneo de Manila, DLSU, PIT, WVSU, XU), Spanish Section of the Department of Modern/European Languages (UST, UP Diliman), or Center for Academic Linkages (De La Salle – College of St. Benilde, CNU)).

Candidates, who must hold a DELE A1/SIELE GLOBAL Spanish certificate, will first be pre-selected by their universities. Pre-selected candidates will then be interviewed online by the Education Advisor. Once the university officially submits its candidates, this Education Office in the Philippines will contact them regarding interview scheduling.

Graduates should consult their universities to know whether their applications will be considered through Stage 1 or whether they will need to apply through Stage 2, should it open.

Students currently enrolled at Instituto Cervantes may also apply through this institution following the same procedure. They must meet the general requirements and hold a DELE A2 Spanish certificate. To apply, they should contact cenmni@cervantes.es indicating their full name, the course in which they are enrolled, and their email address.

Instituto Cervantes candidates with a higher level of Spanish will be prioritized. Candidates applying through a partner university may NOT apply simultaneously through Instituto Cervantes.

STAGE 2:Salto de línea For the general public

Once Stage 1 has finished, if there are still available slots, interested applicants will find information on our website about how to book an appointment for an online interview. Please note that this will not be known until Stage 1 has concluded and will be announced on our website as soon as information becomes available. Kindly refrain from sending inquiries regarding this matter.

Please remember that holding a DELE A1/SIELE GLOBAL A1 Spanish certificate will be mandatory BEFORE requesting an interview. No special calls will be opened on different dates and withdrawals are not replaced.
