Training of teachers of bilingual subjects in Spanish: previous public call Europrof Program (2024)
Program Objective: The main objective of Europrof is to train and equip foreign language teachers or teachers of other subjects to teach Spanish or other subjects, fully or partially in Spanish, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Spanish language teaching in the Philippine educational system. Additionally, the program seeks to enhance the linguistic competence of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, promoting methodological updates and the implementation of innovative educational resources.
Organization: Europrof is organized by the Education Office of Australia, through the Education Office of the Spanish Embassy in Manila, in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes of Manila. This initiative is carried out in close coordination with the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd), ensuring alignment with national educational objectives and the needs of the teaching staff.
Teacher Selection: The selection of participating teachers will be conducted in collaboration with DepEd. Candidates will be selected based on their teaching profile, prior experience, interest in teaching Spanish, and potential to implement the acquired knowledge in their respective educational centres.
Expected Outcomes:
Increase the number of teachers trained in Spanish language teaching in The Philippines.
Improve the quality of Spanish language teaching in the Philippine educational system using active methodologies and updated resources.
Strengthen collaboration between DepEd and Spanish institutions in the educational field.
Program Impact: Since its beginning in The Philippines, in 2022, Europrof has contributed to the training of 56 teachers who have been able to implement the knowledge acquired in their educational centres, enhancing the learning of Spanish among Filipino students and promoting cultural exchange between The Philippines and Spain.
